Imagine that you are preparing a project with your friend. You have found some interesting material for the presentation and you want to read this text to your friend. You have 1.5 minutes to read the text silently, then be ready to read it out aloud. You will not have more than 1.5 minutes to read it.
Acid rain is a serious environmental problem in many industrial regions. It is mainly caused by air pollution from factories and power plants. When these factories burn fossil fuels, they release harmful gases into the atmosphere. These gases mix with water in the air and form acids, which later fall to the ground as rain.
Another important factor is dust produced by industrial activity. This dust often contains dangerous chemicals that can travel long distances in the air. As a result, acid rain can affect not only the areas near factories but also regions far away.
Acid rain damages forests, rivers, and buildings. It can destroy plants, harm animals, and make soil less fertile. To reduce pollution, factories should use cleaner technologies and filters. People should also be more aware of environmental problems and support eco-friendly solutions.

Student: I prefer cooking at home because it’s healthier and cheaper.
Interviewer: What Russian dishes would you recommend to a foreigner?
Student: I would definitely recommend trying pelmeni. Also, I would recommend eating borscht. It’s my favourite Russian soup.
Imagine that you and your friend are doing a school project «Seasons». You have found some photos to illustrate it but for technical reasons you cannot send them now. Leave a voice message to your friend explaining your choice of the photos and sharing some ideas about the project. In 2.5 minutes be ready to:
— explain the choice of the illustrations for the project by briefly describing them and noting the differences;
— mention the advantages (1–2) of the two seasons;
— mention the disadvantages (1–2) of the two seasons;
— express your opinion on the subject of the project — say which season you prefer and why.
You will speak for not more than 3 minutes (12–15 sentences).
You have to talk continuously.
Hi Masha! What’s up? I’ve just found two great pictures for our project “Seasons” and want to describe them to you.
These two photos are perfect for our project because they show different seasons. In the first picture there’re two boys sliding down the hill. There’re trees in the background, so I guess they are in a park. Everything is covered with snow, and the boys are wearing warm clothes. I think it’s freezing cold. The second picture shows a family walking in a forest. There’re four people: a mom, a dad, a son, and a daughter. They are holding hands and talking to each other. In the background, there are beautiful trees. There are also a lot of fallen yellow leaves. The landscape is very beautiful.
The main difference between the pictures is in the seasons. The first picture shows winter, whereas the second picture depicts autumn.
Both of these seasons obviously have their advantages and disadvantages. Winter is a great time for snow activities such as skiing and snowboarding. However, sometimes the weather can be too cold which may lead to hypothermia. As for autumn, it is definitely a very beautiful and colourful season. You can enjoy red, yellow, and orange leaves. At the same time, many people feel depressed in autumn because it rains often and there’s not so much sunlight.
Personally, I prefer winter because I love drinking hot chocolate and reading books when it’s snowing outside.
